All about law school finals!
In this insomnia-induced, unprepared, and unstructured episode, Josh and Laura cover:
- Taking law school exams: software, hardware, the pros and cons of hand-writing essays, and the lack of love for complex multiple choice.
- And more on exam software: why don’t schools trust students with “unsecured” word processing? And how about paying for ExamSoft (separated from student fees)?
- Best advice for all of law school and especially exams: “It could always be worse.” Also, “No matter what happens, at the end of this you won’t be pregnant any more.” And don’t miss, “These may be the hands you are holding when he tells you that he can’t give you children.” What?!
- Writing seminar papers and how much page limits that don’t include footnotes suck.
- How it feels when your law school essay question has no obvious relation to what you learned in class (thanks @Redheadedgirl)
- Why bringing four Red Bulls to your first 1L exam will probably psyche people out (thanks @sahuka).
- Friending judges on Facebook is not something you can do in Florida, which has nothing to do with exams (thanks @LouisGrube).
And some take-away rules for those of you in boil-it-down outlining mode:
- Leverage your connections and ask for jobs. Your qualifications, no matter how awesome, do not speak for themselves.
- Don’t freak out. This is a mental game. Chances are your life is pretty good and what you suck at more than memorizing the UCC is managing your stress about stress.
- Your body hates law school. Listen to the podcast for our closing list of how your body will tell you that it hates law school. Don’t be afraid, it’s totally normal.
