Contest: Google Wave Invitations!
Those of you who listen to the podcast may remember *way back* in Episode 4 that we discussed why Google Wave could be big, and why lawyers probably won’t adopt it until they’ve “missed the wave.”
Well friends, here’s your chance to experience Wave while it’s still in private beta. Eight lucky commenters in this thread will win invitations to a shiny new Wave account.
Is it going to be the next best thing since email? I don’t know about that, but once it goes public, it couldn’t hurt to know your way around Wave.
If you win an account, I hope that you’ll take part in the Public Podcast Wave hosted by Laura and me sometime in the near future. The fact is that there’s a lot of cool stuff that one can do with Wave, but you need a Wave account first, right?
To Enter
All you have to do to enter is make a comment below telling us what you’re going to do with your nifty new Wave account. Only one entry per person, please. Make sure to enter the correct email address as well, because I’ll be sending out invites based on those addresses.
Good luck!
*Edit* – Forgot to mention that as with most of these types of contests, the 6 8 winners will be randomly selected from the comments. We’ll close comments on Thursday at noon EST.
*Edit 2* – Legal Geekery contributor Christopher Wright has generously offered up 2 more Wave accounts for the contest, making your chances even better.
Winners
Entry into the contest is now closed and the following people have been sent invites to Wave:
- jeff
- Pscrawfo
- DeJon Redd
- Jeremy
- GregSJ
- Allasdair
- Thomas
- karen
- Bria
- Mark
- Laura
- Luis
- Mandeep
- Country2Court
Thanks to all who entered. Please allow ~2 days for your invites to arrive. It seems that Google is slow in passing them out.

Perhaps it’s boring, but study group outlines are the only things i can think about at this point in the semester. And with 5 semesters left to go, the wave account would be greatly appreciated.
Beyond study group materials (and in the mythical place called ‘free time’) it’d see alot of use via the long distance boyfriend. We share over audio projects and notes for informal legal comparisons. Now that our file share of choice is decommissioned, life would be simpler with google wave.

Awesome giveaway! From what I’ve seen so far Wave would easily cut literally hours from writing briefs for my moot court team. We just streamlined the process by adopting an online annotation system that only works for pdfs, but it has already saved trees. It’s a pain that it’s so slow though… Imagine being able to comment on writings real-time. Bam! And to be able to include video footage of practice sessions right there…icing on the cake!

I would use the beta version of Google Wave to learn about what it does, and how to use it. In applying it to law school? I’d have to see what it does to figure out how I could make it work for me. But I like the IDEA of it.

I really enjoyed getting to know gmail in its earliest stages, and I’d like to do the same with Wave. I think there’s a strong potential for a paradigm shift in law firm document management to move toward something like Wave, and I’d love to be on the forefront of learning the ropes before it happens.

This would be perfect. I just graduated and passed the bar. The firm I work for is just me and another attorney. I’m a mac… He’s a PC.. this would make our lives a million times easier!

I’ll be honest, I plan on using it like a toy. Without friends using it, it won’t be terribly helpful as a tool just yet. But, like with every other Google product, it’ll (hopefully) become invaluable over time.
For now, though – a shiny toy!
