Some Housekeeping Matters

by Joshua Auriemma on May 27, 2009

perigot_blog2Well, Andy and I are starting work so with any luck we’ll have some interesting topics to blog about in the near future.  Things should heat up soon in general since the 0Ls will be finding this blog through googling things like dear God, I just got into law school and I have no idea what law school classes are like! Since LG is primarily intended to be a blog for the law student and prospective law students, we like to spend a fair bit blogging about law school in general this time of year, and we hope that you’ll impart your wisdom to the nervous 0Ls when those posts start popping up.

In other news, I have been blogging a bit lately around the blogosphere.  I co-authored a post with Ryan Calo at Stanford Law recently about the South Carolina Attorney General‘s threats to prosecute Craigslist if they didn’t remove the Erotic Services section from their website.  Our position was that the AG’s actions could have risen to the level of a state action.  Turns out Craigslist announced a lawsuit against the AG the day after our post, for the reasons we argued.

Also, I’ve been blogging on my personal site about how to build your own blog and make a blog a success.  The idea is that I’m starting this blog from scratch, and I’m going to tell the readers exactly what I’m doing to improve its PageRank, search engine results, and popularity.  I hope that if you have a blog, you’ll check out my suggestions on how to improve your blog as organically as possible.

Finally, I did some housekeeping to the Blogroll recently and removed websites that weren’t linking back to LG.  It’s not because I stopped reading the blogs, it’s because now that I’m doing all this research on improving my blog, I know that unreciprocated links just for the sake of linking are bad for my PageRank.  If you have a blog that links to us that isn’t on the blogroll, please let me know so that I can return the favor.

Hi guys,

I started linking to your blog and it would be great if you could add mine to your blogroll when you get a chance. I’ll be one of the anxiety-ridden 0L’s scouring this place for advice all summer! Keep up the great work!

I wanted to join the LG team but your application was too intense (esp. after my half-finished petition)! ;) Good times.

Pssh, you’ve got your foot in 9000 doors, Jansen. I don’t think this will be a great blow for you :p
