We all have “emergencies.” For some law students, their “personal emergency” is that they were all all night drinking. For Latreasa Goodman, her “emergency” was that McDonalds was sold out of Chicken McNuggets.
The Scene: McDonalds in Fort Pierce, Florida.
The Facts:
- Goodman orders, and pays for, a 10-piece Chicken McNugget meal
- The cashier makes change, then informs Goodman that they are out of Chicken McNuggets
- Goodman becomes angry and demands a refund. Clearly she enjoys her Chicken McNuggets. Is that a crime?
- The cashier informs Goodman that it is McDonalds’ policy that all sales are final, but she can have a McDouble and a small fry instead
Now, it would be easy for me to make fun of Goodman here, because she apparently goes semi-insane and calls 911 three separate times. Yes, when asked why she called 911, she replied, “This is an emergency. If I would have known they didn’t have McNuggets, I wouldn’t have given my money, and now she wants to give me a McDouble, but I don’t want one. This is an emergency.” Seriously though, McDonalds’ policy not to give refunds? Come on, now. I can think of at least 20 people who wouldn’t have let the cashier get away with that quote.
This leads me to two very important questions:
- Is there any difference between the average disgruntled, quasi-insane person and a law student; and
- What in the name of all that is holy is a McDouble?

Haha, thanks for that link. I’m not a vegetarian but I avoid fast food whenever possible.
And sorry, but my spam filter thought you were spam. It’s been appropriately reprimanded.
